KINGSFORD — Katherine M. “Kathy” Michaud, 83, of Kingsford passed away on Sept. 29, 2022, at home.

She was born on Feb. 1, 1939, in Niagara, Wis., daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Thoune) Molle. Kathy was raised in Niagara and graduated from Niagara High School, Class of 1957.

Following graduation, she continued her education at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls where she received her teaching degree. She, immediately after graduating, accepted a teaching position in Three Lakes, Wis. She taught there until she was married.

Katherine married Walter Michaud on June 8, 1968, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara and made their home in Kingsford. Together they celebrated 54 years of marriage.

Kathy will be deeply missed by her loving husband; three children, Karen (James) Brackett, Allen (Deanna) Michaud, and Laura (Matt) Zuern; eight grandchildren, Bridget (Jason) Raiche, Justin Brackett, Katherine Brackett (Pat Flood), Makayla (Kevin) Reynolds, Marcus Michaud, Logan Brackett, Gabriel Zuern and Elizabeth Zuern; four great-grandchildren, Madison and Paisley Raiche, Cabella Brackett and Joyce Peterson; two sisters, Lyda and Doris; numerous nieces and nephews who she loved as her own; and a dear friend of 77 years, Arlene DePas.

In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her siblings, Marie, Alice, Evelyn and Louis; two infant siblings, Louis and Clifford; and a nephew, Gary Molle.

Katherine’s calling was leading and caring for children. For many years she cared for and babysat children who she deeply cared for and spoke of them often. Katherine was a rock and foundation for everyone she met and loved. She will be missed and loved forever.

Visitation will be at Kingsford Funeral Home, 1000 S. Carpenter Ave., from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 4. Visitation will continue at the Funeral Home from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Wednesday, Oct. 5, followed by Fr. Joseph Gouin officiating the Mass of Christian Burial at American Martyrs Catholic Church at 11 am
