Northampton County public schools are closed for students and staff Monday.

Head Start will be closed for children and staff in both Accomack and Northampton County on Monday, October 3, 2022.

Due to inclement weather and potential flooding, Accomack County Public Schools will be closed to all students and staff on Monday, October 3, 2022. Twelve month employees should report on time.

Accomack County’s Solid Waste Convenience Center located on Chincoteague Island will be closed on Monday, October 3, 2022. All other Accomack County Convenience Centers will adhere to normal schedules.

For the safety of our teachers, students, and families, Belle Croft will be closed tomorrow, Monday, October 3, 2022. We will reassess the outcome of the nor’easter tomorrow. We hope to see you on Tuesday

FORT KENT, Maine – A 74-year-old Fort Kent man who confessed to shooting and killing his neighbors’ dog was charged with animal cruelty on Saturday.

Moose, a 3-year-old blue nose pitbull, was found lying dead in his family yard on Summer Street at 4:30 pm on Friday.

Dr. Alexandra Roberts, a family physician and obstetrician at Northern Maine Medical Center, left work early that day when her nanny alerted her that Moose was nowhere to be found.

Roberts discovered Moose’s body, which she said was cold and stiff. When Roberts saw a bullet hole in Moose’s chest, she immediately called police. Roberts’ ex-husband brought the dog to Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Brewer where veterinarian staff performed x-rays and removed a small projectile from the dog’s heart. Roberts said it’s unclear what type of weapon was used to shoot Moose.

The group strives to do more than march and pray. DaQuawna Farrow, church and engagement coordinator for Declare Dayton, said a core aspect of their work is volunteering for Dayton public schools — volunteering time and goods, whatever schools and students need, she said.

“We’re putting heavy emphasis on a collaboration with Dayton Public Schools,” Farrow said. “To have the presence of the faith community, as mentors, as helps in any direction, in any facet or area that the schools need.”

She was born on Feb. 1, 1939, in Niagara, Wis., daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Thoune) Molle. Kathy was raised in Niagara and graduated from Niagara High School, Class of 1957.

Following graduation, she continued her education at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls where she received her teaching degree. She, immediately after graduating, accepted a teaching position in Three Lakes, Wis. She taught there until she was married.

Katherine married Walter Michaud on June 8, 1968, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara and made their home in Kingsford. Together they celebrated 54 years of marriage.

Kathy will be deeply missed by her loving husband; three children, Karen (James) Brackett, Allen (Deanna) Michaud, and Laura (Matt) Zuern; eight grandchildren, Bridget (Jason) Raiche, Justin Brackett, Katherine Brackett

A local family is suspecting that Alyssa Taylor, 25, of Oak Hall, Va, may have been in a fatal crash on 14 Sept. 2022. Her last known contact was a text message to her mother on Sept. 13, when she told her that she would be traveling with Daniel Eugene McNeal, 51, of Exmore, Va, in a Mack tractor-trailer.

McNeal was killed in a crash Sept. 14. on southbound Interstate 85 in Hillsborough, North Carolina, when he veered off the highway and hit an overpass before crashing around 2:15 am, according to NC Highway Patrol spokesman Trooper Brian Martin. The truck was “engulfed in flames and a high volume of fire (was) impinging on the bridge,” fire officials said in the post.

Taylor’s family wants to know if she was also in the truck that claimed McNeal’s life.
